Choordhar is a famous Religious Place of Sirmaur
and Shimla District in Himachal State which is also
known as Paradise on earth. Famous Temple of Lord Shirgul Maharaj is situated on
Choordhar Peak which rises to an altitude of nearly11969 feet. Maximum area of Choordhar Hills is a part of
Sangrah Subdivision of Sirmaur district which is snowbound area. Choordhar peak is the highest peak in the outer Himalayas and it
holds a religious significance for the locale devotees and disciples from all
around the state. Churdhar Hills/ Panoramic Valley/Forest have
been covered with the Snow for 6 months of year. Lord Shirgul Maharaj
Temple Churdhar is about 12 K.M. from Sarahan, 18 K.M. from Nohradhar on foot. Saint/Sadhu/Recluse
Kamlanand Brahamchari leaves alone in Snow covered Shirgul Maharaj Temple during winter season. Churdhar mounts
and Temple covered with 10 to 20 foot Snow-shelter during iciness. After first snowfall
on peak in month of October the Pol/ Kapat/ Access of Churdhar Temple opened on
Baisakhi in the month of April for devotees. Chureshwar Seva Committee classified
Bhandara/ Pantry in Temple every year. The
peak offers a fine view of the Gangetic plains and the Satluj River in south,
and Badrinath towards the north, a well known Hindu pilgrimage. Also seen are
the hills of Chakrata and Shimla from the top of Churdhar. Sarahan, Nohra,
Pulbal, Haripurdhar, Sangrah and Chopal are the nearest approachable Station of
Choordhar.
