Amazing glory of White Buras

The beautiful trees of Rhododendron are found in 21 Panchayats of Sangrah Subdivision and some other parts of greater Sirmaur and upper Shimla district of Himachal State. Rhododendron tree is known as Buras in area and it always attracts tourist and forest lovers in spring. Piulani, Jablog, Devdhal, Manal, Choordhar, Diwari, Gattadhar and Sainj etc. forests looks amazing when the wild Rose blossom during primavera.  Recently we found an exceptional species of white Rhododendron in Choordhar vale.  Rhododendron/ Buraas could also be a source of livelihood for many peoples of neighborhood if Government or any other origination establishes fruit juice processing unit/ factory in aria. Buras is also a Meditational plant and its Juice and Ketchup etc. are good Remedy for cancer and heart patients. Italian researchers at the University of Padova studied the composition of an essential oil from the Rhododendron anthopogon species. They were able to isolate compounds that showed a significant killing effect against strains of bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Bacillus subtilis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis and fungi like Candida. The same Italian study that discovered antimicrobial properties in rhododendron also determined that the essential oil reduced cancer cell growth independently of either the cell line or the treatment protocols used. According to source Rhododendron is a genus characterized by shrubs and small to large trees, the smallest species growing to 10–100 cm tall, and the largest, reported to 30 m tall. The leaves are spirally arranged; leaf size can range from 1–2 cm to over 50. The genus Rhododendron of Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) has been enumerated in the present paper. A total of 87 species, 12 subspecies and 8 varieties of Rhododendrons recorded in IHR, among these 6 species and one subspecies are reported from Western Himalaya. The maximum concentration of 86% observed in Arunachal Pradesh (75 species). The species of Rhododendrons exhibit significant diversity in habit and broad range of distribution from the altitude of 800-6000 m. and the best range is observed in 3001-3500 m altitudes. In analysis revealed 20 taxa are endemic, 30 are rare, 24 are threatened / endangered, 3 are vulnerable and 47 taxa have to be assessed. The major threats to rhododendrons are deforestation and unsustainable extraction for firewood and incense by local people has been discussed. They may be either evergreen or deciduous. In some species, the undersides of the leaves are covered with scales or hairs. Some of the best known species are noted for their many clusters of large flowers. There are alpine species with small flowers and small leaves, and tropical species such as section that often grow as epiphytes. Species in this genus may be part of the heath complex in oak-heath forests in eastern North America. They have frequently been divided based on the presence or absence of scales on the lower leaf surface. These scales, unique to subgenus Rhododendron, are modified hairs consisting of a polygonal scale attached by a stalk. As new species of what are now considered Rhododendron were discovered, if they seemed to differ significantly from the type species they were assigned to separate genera. This structure largely survived till recently, following which the development of molecular phylogeny led to major re-examinations of traditional morphological classifications, although other authors such as Candolle (1838), who described six sections, used slightly different numeration.
